How recruiting actually feels at Ivey
It feels like you should already be good at cases. That is the trap. Ivey cases train you to discuss a protagonist with a room of classmates. Interviewers want a decision with a number while someone cuts you off. Students who win airtime in class often under-quant and over-narrate in first rounds — the same hangover as Harvard, with a smaller class and a colder commute.
London, Ontario is isolated relative to Bay Street. Coffee chats with Toronto consultants are trips or Zoom. The Canadian recruiting calendar is not a copy-paste of US OCR; some processes move on a Toronto/Canadian clock. Confirm dates with Career Management. Do not assume a New York timeline. Ivey's one-year-style length (confirm the current program on the school site) means you cannot treat classroom casing as a two-year warm-up. The learning team that made you look sharp on Thursday will not sit in the interview on Monday.

Ivey's MBA is typically a one-year-style clock compared with US two-year programs — confirm current length on Ivey's site. Week 1 — Kill the narrative. Every case ends in 20 seconds with a number. Daily exhibit math. Write PEI that is a personal decision, not a class contribution. If you need a cold-call to start talking, you are still in the classroom.
Week 2 — Format split in London. Interviewer-led and candidate-led on alternating days. No Toronto trip yet. You are building the skill where you live. Record one mock and listen for the HBS-style "tensions" that never become a recommendation.
Week 3 — Toronto trip block. Cap coffees. Case the night before. Office thesis (Toronto generalist versus a specific practice). Confirm applications. Do not add Calgary "while we are at it" unless that is the real target. Drive time is not networking.
